Crystal Waters Ecovillage is a UN Habitat Award winning ecovillage, one of the very first settlements designed according to permaculture principles. Founded in 1987, this is an established village with over 200 permanent residents on 640 acres (259 hectares) of land. Classes will be held in the award-winning Crystal Waters EcoCentre, and practical sessions will be implementing projects throughout the property. The settlement is a wildlife haven where native animals and birds live in harmony with their human neighbours. |
You will be immersed in working examples of sustainability in the real world. The "classroom" at Crystal Waters is huge - 259 hectares! and a large proportion of time is spent outdoors, doing what you learn. Max and Trudi's extensive and highly productive gardens, orchards, woodlot, small herd of cattle, poultry and beehives provide the perfect practical backdrop to your learning experience!
Climate: Expect warm days, the occasional cooling afternoon rain shower and mild nights.
