 This beautiful property features a fully organic mud-brick home hand built from the earth on which it sits. Situated in the heart of the World Heritage recognized Crystal Waters Permaculture Village with lake and mountain views, no toxic materials of any kind have been used in its construction. The floors are slate not carpet. The walls are hand-pressed mud bricks not wallpapered or painted. The heating is from a beautiful open fireplace in the center of the home. All the wood in the house is termite-resistant western red cedar so no pest treatment is required. In fact no spraying of any kind has been permitted in the house, the land, or on any of the surrounding 640 acres of the permaculture village.

Upon arrival you’ll be instantly relaxed by the waterfall splashing at the front door of the house. No pets are allowed in Crystal Waters and as a result the native wildlife abound. Wallabies and kangaroos laze about in the backyard and kookaburras laugh in the trees. At sunrise watch ducks bobbing and dragonflies chasing one another around the lake as the trees sway in the gentle breeze. During the heat of the day relax in the hammock by your very own waterfall or cool off in the jacuzzi!

Other features include 20,000 litres of beautiful filtered rain-water on tap, solar hot water, composting toilet, rain-water shower, and a fire-circle BBQ pit overlooking the lake.  As you’d expect on a permaculture property there are numerous productive fruit and nut trees including lemons, oranges, mandarins, macadamias, bananas, stone fruit, pomegranate, avocado, mango, mulberry, and more. The daily water allowance from the communal reticulated water supply taken from the local river is 1000 litres per day!  Still, a full-house grey water system takes all waste water from the house and waters your fruit trees automatically for you.

Inside the house is a dream. From the warmth of the mud bricks to the beautiful western red cedar kitchen benches, you’ll feel instantly at home. The kitchen boasts all modern European appliances, island bench and ample storage space. The master bedroom opens onto the rear arbor and Jacuzzi overlooking the lake, has a walk-in wardrobe and direct access to the bathroom with glass-tiled shower, huge bath with verdant views, composting toilet and indoor laundry. The second bedroom is equally impressive with views out to the mini-waterfall and private patio, plus a mezzanine suitable as either an artist’s retreat or guest double bed.

A double carport will shelter your vehicles but you’ll never want to leave! If you do, you’re surrounded by the beautiful Sunshine Coast hinterland. Nearby towns include Maleny at just 20 minutes away, plus Montville and Mapleton for great food and unique shopping. Nearby attractions include Australia Zoo, Mary Cairncross and Glasshouse Mountains National Parks, local wineries and cheese-makers, Eumundi markets, plus the beaches of Caloundra and Noosa just 45 minutes away.
