Technical Field Services

We provide specialist ecological fieldwork services for consultancies, government agencies, and project teams who need experienced ecologists in the field. Whether you need additional capacity for a large project or specialist survey skills for a targeted program, our team delivers reliable, high-quality field data.

BAM Plot Surveys

BAM (Biodiversity Assessment Method) plot surveys are the foundation of BDARs and biodiversity stewardship assessments. Our ecologists are highly experienced in conducting BAM floristic plots, including full species inventories and vegetation integrity assessments, plot placement in accordance with BAM requirements, accurate PCT identification and condition scoring, and data collection in BAM Calculator-ready format. We can conduct BAM plots as a standalone service for other consultancies or as part of a complete BDAR assessment.

Flora Surveys

Our flora survey services cover the full range of botanical fieldwork needs, from rapid vegetation assessments and threatened flora searches through to comprehensive floristic inventories. We have strong plant identification skills across a wide range of NSW vegetation communities and maintain up-to-date knowledge of taxonomic changes and current species nomenclature. Our flora surveys include random meander searches for threatened species, systematic plot-based floristic surveys, vegetation community delineation and mapping, weed assessments and invasive species mapping, and seasonal targeted surveys for cryptic or difficult-to-detect species.

Fauna Surveys & Additional Field Services

Beyond flora and BAM plots, we also provide a range of fauna and technical field services including habitat assessments and hollow-bearing tree surveys, fauna trapping programs (Elliott traps, pitfall traps, cage traps), spotlighting and call playback for nocturnal species, Anabat acoustic monitoring for microbats, nest box installation and monitoring, photo-monitoring point establishment and repeat surveys, and GPS mapping and spatial data collection for GIS deliverables. All fieldwork is conducted in accordance with current NSW survey guidelines and relevant animal ethics approvals.
